Present at BFRB Con 2026

We are committed to providing opportunities for scientists, practitioners and community members to learn and connect with each other. Our diverse and unique programme will include a number of parallel sessions aimed at different audiences to showcase the best of BFRB research and community-led initiatives.

We invite contributions from across the sciences, including (but not limited to) dermatology, hair & skin science, psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, medicine, and the social sciences. Presenters are welcome to share their work in a range of formats, whether a paper, poster or a panel discussion (see suggested options below).

We also welcome abstracts from community-members and practitioners across a range of fields (therapeutic approaches, cosmetic and beauty industries, the arts etc.) to submit abstracts with their proposed activity, workshop, panel or talk.  

Abstract submission

Whether you’re a reseacher, clinician, practitioner, creator or innovator, we invite you to contribute to BFRB Con 2026. Please let us know your ideas by submitting an abstract.

All abstracts will be selected by the BFRB Con organising committee, comprising a mix of researchers, clinicians and engagement staff, including people with lived experience of BFRBs.

We particularly welcome submissions from early-career researchers (whether undergraduate students, PhD students or post-doctoral researchers).

  • Abstracts should clearly indicate whether you would like to propose a talk / poster / panel / workshop / activity / etc

  • To be considered for a talk in a scientific sessions. please structure your abstract in the standard form: Title, authors, affiliations, introduction, methods, results and conclusion. Please indicate whether you are hoping to present your work as a talk, poster or would be happy with either. (word limit 300 words)

  • To be considered for a talk in a community or ideas sharing session. please structure your abstract as follows: Title, contributor(s), affiliation(s), brief description of your idea/service/etc and an indication of how mature your offering is (e.g. early stage, looking for input, number of people who have accessed/benefited from your innovation etc) (word limit 300 words)

  • Panel/workshop/activity proposals should include all speaker/contributor names, brief bios, paper titles, as well as a suggested chair. If accepted, each contributor will be required to submit an individual abstract. If applicable, please include information about any equipment required

  • Email your abstract to bfrb@psych.ox.ac.uk, taking note of the following dates:

    • Abstracts for talks/panels/workshops/activities must be recieved by 5pm (GMT) on 30th April. Decisions on inclusion in the programme will be delivered by 29th May.

    • Abstracts for posters must be recieved by 5pm (GMT) on 31st July. Decisions on inclusion will be delivered by 28th August.
